Abstract

Lidio for guitars and accessories (2020) is a work that I wrote inspired by the figure of Víctor Jara and the impact of his legacy. Through a review of the most relevant aspects of the creative process of the piece, this article explores how contemporary musical creation emerges and unfolds in the sociohistorical context of the commemoration – around 2023 – of the Chilean Coup d’état, articulating a working method from a cartographic compositional approach that includes concepts such as the translation between the musical and the non-musical, the ruins as fragmentary and deformed elements, musical aesthetic aspects such as intertextuality and performance, and the construction of sonic places that host acts with dramaturgical and ritual connotations that appear to the listener as a manifestation of images stimulated by the poem “Estadio Chile”, written by Víctor just before his death by the military who took power in Chile in 1973.
